My trip through Ohio last week brought me to the Cleveland Institute of Art Gund Library , Akron Art Museum , Columbus Museum of Art , and the DAAP Library at the University of Cincinnati.

I had the opportunity to share ‘Onomasticon’ with a number of people and I want to thank them for their feedback and conversation. A highlight of the trip would be Andrew Moore’s ‘Detroit Disassembled’ at the Akron Art Museum, hauntingly beautiful images of a lost city.

Hello all, just a quick update about my Onomasticon project. The fund raising for production costs has been going well. Subscriptions are starting to pick up and the mock-up book case has turned out great. Be sure to visit the KickStarter site to view updates with video & photos. The project web site is being updated as well.

A lot more coming soon as I embark on ‘Tour Le Box”, to quote my friend Brian Guido.

Last but not least, Julia Stotz is the best so if you have a book or case or fancy container you should work with her. I mean it.

Long overdue update following a couple of very busy months. I made a trip to Portland to see my dear friends Kate Bingaman-Burt and Adam and Sarah of Home-Tapes.

In May I had a number of new images from New Mexico featured in Fraction Magazine Issue #14.

More recently. Russian magazine Moloko released issue #10 with a feature of my work. See it HERE.

During all of that I’ve been working diligently to start and announce Onomasticon, a 2-year, 26-book series that is available by subscriptions. See the project web site here: http://onomasticon.info

Lots to do and more news on the way. Its going to be a busy busy summer and I can’t take my eyes away from the World Cup. Go Spain!

Just returned from FotoFest 2010 in Houston. Session 1 of the Meeting Place was a great experience. I want to thank all of the reviewers I spoke with as well as those other curators, collectors and fellow photographers I met over prints and drinks.

If you make it down there or are thinking of ordering the catalog you should. Curator Natasha Egan from the Museum of Contemporary Photography here in Chicago put together a fantastic ‘participating’ show called the Road to Nowhere. It was a fantastic exhibition to see in person.

Look for a series of newer images from Nowhere in an upcoming issue of Fraction Magazine. More on that later.

Southern Hospitality

Busy winter, busy spring. Just returned from shooting trips to New Mexico and Florida. Both trips were productive and yet still relaxing.

A new semester has started at Columbia and I have two jam packed classes that have both started of well.

Now I’m gearing up for FotoFest next month. Scanning, printing, editing. Looking forward to being included in the next issue of Moloko and news of upcoming exhibitions later in the year.

If you’re in town (Chicago) make sure to check out ‘In the Vernacular‘ at the Museum of the Art Institute. Looks to be a great show. More on the way…

’tis the season

Cold, rainy, sleety and windy. Winter has finally arrived. The end of a busy year is approaching.

Good news from HeyHotShot as I received an Honorable Mention as part of the 2009 Second Edition. Thanks to the jury and Jen Bekman for their consideration. Check out the list and the link so catch up on some of highlighted photographers. Lots of good work out there.

Syllabi & Such

A new semester has started at Columbia College, the weather in Chicago is fantastic and I’m still high on my recent trip to England and Spain. I saw some great work at HOST Gallery in London. Made my first trip to the Tate Modern as well. I saw an interesting exhibition at the MACBA in Barcelona but I was far more impressed by the selections from the permanent collection (including Ruscha’s book “Sunset Strip”). I didn’t plan my time well and ended up missing the Robert Capa show at the Museu Nacional d’Art.

Another thank you goes out to Ann Pallesen at the PCNW in Seattle. Ann sent me some installation shots from the Photo-Op show which made me regret not making it out there even more. C’est la vie.

The summer months have been great so far. The PCNW show is up and I am greatful to any of you who make it out to see it. Vague Paper #6 is out and I’ve just seen an on-line image of John Sakkis’ forthcoming book ‘Rude Girl’ which features one of my Channels portraits as its cover. See a preview here.

Keep an eye out for the next issue of Proximity Magazine—the ‘photo’ issue—we’ve been working hard to get together some quality articles and portfolios.

Spring In Your Step?

Thanks to the editors at HeyHotShot! for their ‘contender’ feature. There is a lot of great work in that competition and I’ve been following the blog regularly for awhile now.

Additional thanks to BOOOOOOOOM! for their post. Sharing my work with their viewers and generally spotlighting interesting visual works.

Word on the street is that VaguePaper #6 is out and on the verge of an official launch. I’m hoping to have my hands on copies soon. Last, but not least, I’m happy to annouce that one of the images from CHANNELS will be used for the cover of a new book by John Sakkis later this year, to be published by BlazeVox Books.

Things are warming up.
