Syllabi & Such

Monday, September 14th, 2009

A new semester has started at Columbia College, the weather in Chicago is fantastic and I’m still high on my recent trip to England and Spain. I saw some great work at HOST Gallery in London. Made my first trip to the Tate Modern as well. I saw an interesting exhibition at the MACBA in Barcelona but I was far more impressed by the selections from the permanent collection (including Ruscha’s book “Sunset Strip”). I didn’t plan my time well and ended up missing the Robert Capa show at the Museu Nacional d’Art.

Another thank you goes out to Ann Pallesen at the PCNW in Seattle. Ann sent me some installation shots from the Photo-Op show which made me regret not making it out there even more. C’est la vie.

Tapas & Sangria

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

The summer months have been great so far. The PCNW show is up and I am greatful to any of you who make it out to see it. Vague Paper #6 is out and I’ve just seen an on-line image of John Sakkis’ forthcoming book ‘Rude Girl’ which features one of my Channels portraits as its cover. See a preview here.

Keep an eye out for the next issue of Proximity Magazine—the ‘photo’ issue—we’ve been working hard to get together some quality articles and portfolios.

Summer Reigns

Plodding along nicely among thunderstorms and ridiculous humidity.

I have been included in the Photo-Op show this year at the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle, WA. A great sampling of artists. More about that show HERE.

Spring In Your Step?

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Thanks to the editors at HeyHotShot! for their ‘contender’ feature. There is a lot of great work in that competition and I’ve been following the blog regularly for awhile now.

Additional thanks to BOOOOOOOOM! for their post. Sharing my work with their viewers and generally spotlighting interesting visual  works.

Word on the street is that VaguePaper #6 is out and on the verge of an official launch. I’m hoping to have my hands on copies soon. Last, but not least, I’m happy to annouce that one of the images from CHANNELS will be used for the cover of a new book by John Sakkis later this year, to be published by BlazeVox Books.

Things are warming up.

Something From Nothing

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

An upcoming exhibition titled “Something From Nothing” will include Nowhere #5907. If you are in the Ohio area check out the Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery in Marion, OH. (The Ohio State University at Marion) Running from April 6th – May 5th.

Recent photographic adventures with Mr. Ulrich proved both fun and spooky. Dead malls at night are funny and/or creepy. However a woman driving by us provided the perfect sentiment for art makers today…

“All this for that?” Yes ma’am,  all of this for just that. Let’s keep shooting.
